Common Sense

By Pamela Brann

Why is it so many people seem to have forgotten how to use their common sense?

I mean how is it that anyone could believe that the President of the United States is solely responsible for the way the government has been run for the past 4 years? Have we forgotten that we are not a dictatorship? That we do not have a king in power but a president who has a congress and senate to work with and that they have all been acting like little children fighting to have everything their own way? What ever happened to the idea of what is good for one needs to be good for all, for the common good, for the betterment of humankind?

Common sense would tell us that things need to change-that we not only can’t but the majority of us don’t want to go on doing things the old way. We are all tired of struggling to survive. We want to have time to enjoy life, to find out what it is all about, this huge big universe of ours. To be able to explore our artistic expression whatever that may be.

Common sense would dictate that ideals & things that are old and misfunctioning need to be upgraded. We get new computers, cell phones or TV’s every couple of years but we expect our government to go on functioning with ideals and programs from the 19th century instead of the 21st century.

We need to come up with an upgrade for the constitution. We supposedly have some of the best minds in the country, so let’s get them together with people that have common sense and mix people from all walks of life and generations. Let’s redo our government and make it into an efficiently operating caring governing body.

And why is it that there seems to be a real lack of common sense when some people get behind the wheel of their cars. Are our egos so big that we feel that everyone should move over and let us through? Do we think that we are invincible, that nothing will happen to us even though we are talking/texting on our phones or go through the light even if it did change red?

We are in the Aquarian age, a time for caring-for not only your own small corner of the world but for all souls in the whole universe.

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” — Thomas Jefferson
