“Please don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.”
To take your weekly bath in the golden days of yesteryear, you needed to pump the water, heat the water on the stove and then pour the water into the tin tub. With a family, baths started with the oldest and the same water was used all the way down through the baby – by which time the water might be rather dirty. Therefore, the expression: “Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.” In other words, don’t throw out someone or something valuable with the dirty water.
Yes, some politics and politicians seem rather dirty. However, this job can be a holy one. Although I don’t agree with everything he did, I do admire and respect Franklin Delano Roosevelt – as I do President Obama, Russ Feingold, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders (first time I’ve contributed to a presidential campaign and I’m one of millions contributing, with his average donation of $25 or so!) Donald Trump is openly racist and sexist, has filed for bankruptcy, failing to take responsibility for his actions and leaving his employees to handle the burden, and I see him operating from his (super?) ego in general. I will be very concerned for us with Trump as president. I think he’ll be bringing a lot of dirty water into the political bath. Please reconsider regarding current politicians and don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
